I know I am always going on about Choice and here I am again! You can choose to put off doing anything from say sorting all the bits of so-called important papers to washing the dishes.

If you keep on though pushing things away and it becomes a habit, you will find that it costs you. It will take more of your energy than you realise. And you seriously must take care of your energy.

While that internal voice says, ‘Oh, do it later’, the rest of you knows that it is not only still in your head but also sitting on your shoulders weighing you down. That pressure is what will drain your energy.

You are just lying to yourself – even if it is a little white one – when you know you’re not going to do it. And that’s another of my Tips – be honest with yourself about the fact that you’re not going to do it now, later or even ever. Listen to what it is you’re really saying – no energy for it, rather do something different or simply can’t be bothered.

Your energy is your life force, and if you don’t take care of yours, then you will definitely not be feeling good about you, flying high or even at your best.

Your home, wardrobe, make-up, office, car, garden and so on can easily become cluttered and messy. Now would be a good time to begin to clear your space and get rid of the clutter. Your life will be so much simpler as you’re bringing fresh air into that space for the new to happen.

What about your boundaries around not only your energy but also your time, effort and money?

Are you able to say, ‘NO, No for Now, I have to think about it or even I Don’t Care’. (That was the plug for my 2nd book ‘I Don’t Care – the Art of Divine Indifference’ – out on Amazon). It is a really simple way to simplify your life – I can tell you.

I know that to change old habits can be difficult, especially when you are attempting to bring about change, and it can also open the doors to new possibilities.

Finally, remember that appreciating the simple pleasures in life as they arise, is a way to give something back to you in the busyness of life e.g. the smell and taste of fresh bread; a bunch of flowers; or seeing the sunrise/sun set; rainbow. And most importantly – Having Fun, Laughing and Enjoying Life.

  • Hi Irene. I am part way through a declutter that started with packing away the summer clothes and bringing out the winter ones again. While doing that, I looked at each item and made a decision about each item and whether I wanted to keep it. I really was great to fill a large black sack for the charity shop and have more room in my wardrobe! Why did I hang on to all those items I wasn’t wearing? Who knows?!
    Anyway, I am moving on to cupboards as time allows and aim to have it all done by Christmas, a realistic goal I feel.
