Life (NBC TV series)

Whoever said that life was going to be easy was quite simply WRONG. Things happen unexpectedly and can blow you off course – large and small things.

You can expect life to be a certain way and, more or less, it turns out as you expected. It’s those times when it doesn’t that can cause you to scream, shout, cry, have no energy, become depressed, lose heart … you can fill in how you generally respond to these unexpected happenings.

Do you allow yourself to go with whatever it is you are feeling? Do you allow out the part of you that can be seen as unreasonable and doesn’t care about others’ reactions?

I can tell you that it can make you feel good – even if it is for a little while and you may then have to apologise to anyone around you!

What you begin to realise is that only you have control over your emotional responses and reactions, and you have the choice to express them or not. These can come out in whatever way you want to.

I want you to have compassion for yourself in whatever situation you are in as you could be feeling anger, sadness, despair, helplessness to the control of others.

In my opinion, you simply need to let go of control on some occasions and develop trust to let go of your fear around doing this. These feelings need acknowledgement in some way.

So accept them for what they are, e.g. fear is actually an adrenalin response to a situation or person you instinctively want to run away from. Your anxiety, stress or worry are not actually fear so acknowledge these emotions when they arise. Let them know they have every right to be there AND get on with life.

Remember that the above also applies to the wonderful, exhilarating feelings you have too!
