Me time - do you deserve it

ME TIME!

Do you deserve this time?

Here I am talking to those of you, women (and yes, men too) who feel you are at everyone’s beck and call, and particularly YOUR own voice that says, ‘I must hold it all together’! You will be one of those ‘Women Who Do Too Much’.

I decided to do my article on this subject as the main holiday season is coming to a close, along with the school holidays.

You will know all the benefits of having more time with your family and friends, fewer cars on the road, more parking spaces, the possibility of seats on the trains, eating out, less pressure (or even more!), doing and seeing more things, going places you’ve always wanted to try, having new experiences and so on …….

As well as all the disadvantages of being the organiser of everything (it can seem like that anyway) planning the holiday season and others’ boredom, including your own, that can ensue when time has not been filled up.

Beliefs

I am sure that most of you are aware that our beliefs about ourselves affect, not only our behaviours but our success in life. For example –

If you believe you are really smart, you’ll do
better in life even if you actually aren’t.

If you believe you need less sleep, you’ll perform better
with less sleep than those who don’t.

If you believe the placebo you were given works, you
will believe in its magic.

Therefore, believing that you –

don’t have a right to; are not worthy of; are not entitled to; are not good enough for …
‘ME TIME’

will stop you from including yourself, and realising that you need your batteries charged too!!

Cog in the Wheel

It is painful to sit back and go ‘Why didn’t I do that when I could?’ or say, ‘That was okay as they (voice(s) inside or outside you!) needed my time first’ whether family or work. NO!

When you take yourself out of the equation, yes you will lose the control (being in charge that you don’t always admit you need) and you will come back stronger, with more energy, with more awareness and less need to be the cog in the wheel that holds everything together.

It can actually be fine, and even fun, to let go and go with the flow of time out.

Why don’t we do it more often (without being enforced on us for whatever reason)? I don’t truly know as there are many things I don’t have answers for, and maybe there are no true answers to any of them anyway!! AND I know that you and I can become better at self-awareness through listening to that voice inside us.

What I am suggesting is that you are so accustomed to doing what others want you to do, or doing what is right or doing whatever it is that earns you approval or praise from others, that you have lost yourself in all of society’s norm.

It is such a relief when you believe in yourself and know that your unique way of doing things is just what is needed regardless.

I trust you are able to let in your own voice that says, ‘I Deserve this Time!’

Enjoy it.
