Spring-Cleaning

A good while back, the following poem did the rounds. Sorry don’t know the original source!

Cleaning Poem

I asked the Lord to tell me why my house is such a mess
He asked if I’d been ‘computering’ and I had to answer ‘Yes’
He told me to get off my butt, and tidy up the house
And so I started cleaning up – the smudges off my mouse
I wiped and shined the topside – that really did the trick
I was just admiring my good work – I didn’t mean to ‘click’
But click I did, and ooops – I found a real absorbing site
That I go Sooooo way into it – I was into it all night
So nothing’s changed except my mouse – it’s as shiny as the sun
I guess my house will stay a mess, while I sit here on my bum!

I laughed my head off or at least I thought it was funny. Now I don’t know as it has become my reality!

This 30-day-blogging-challenge has taken over my time, my energy, my thinking …

Of course, I know any challenge is challenging AND I didn’t quite realise the focus it would take and me sitting here longer than usual on my bum!!

I had to take time out (I ran a course at the weekend there and am doing another one this weekend), and this was my choice. AND now I need to investigate the number I am up too – Help!

Just so you know, I actually have been taking advantage of this lovely weather too, looking at, reading and commenting on some of the Blogs in our Group, and going to my exercise classes in between thinking about blogging or else I’d go stir crazy.

I’m leaving most of Sarah and Kevin’s instructions until I have time to do the learning as well!!!

I wonder how the rest of you are getting on and would love to hear from you.

  • This really did make me smile, Irene, which is one of my favourite pastimes. Only yesterday I was telling myself I need to get a grip and sort my house. I too didn’t quite realise how the challenge would take over my life for 30 days but in such a good way. Things won’t ever be the same as I’m pretty sure my life is heading in a different direction now and, anyway, who wants to clean all day 🙂

  • Exactly, Nicky, that’s what I say AND it has also taken over my life. I’m quite sure you are going places now. This Sat. is my 2nd Day Workshop and it is hard to write blogs when that is my focus so I’ll see what excuse I’ll have after that!! I’m not able to get to your meetings so we’ll have to do something else before Christmas!!!!! xx

  • Hello Irene! Thank you for that post – it did indeed bring a smile to my face! 🙂
I’ve only just started the blogging challenge, so I’m a little nervous of the potential for it to take up .all.the.hours if I let it. But I’m determined to give it a shot and think I’ll try some different styles of post as well – some long in depth, some super short! It’s good to have a focus for hitting that Publish button and seeing what resonates most with ‘my people’.
Well done for getting more than half way through!

  • Thanks, Sian – I still don’t know if I’m coming or going with the challenge so I’ll look out for your short or long ones. And I’m pleased you’ve started x

  • I think it covers all of us, Melanie. on the blog challenge – now you’ll have time to ‘deal’ with your 2 yr old! xx
