1/52 : Outside the comfort zoneI’ve been in that place of anxiety this week as I’ve chosen to step outside my comfort zone and be visible again in my old organisation.  This seemed both exciting and overwhelming at the same time.

Somehow or other, as does seem to happen on these occasions, I was reminded of something that I’ve used in the past with women which is Seth Godwin’s words “If we define anxiety as experiencing failure in advance, then changing it to anticipation, you will highlight the highs”.

Of course, it was just what I needed for myself.  I did have to smile and ruefully shake my head, I can tell you. I hadn’t take time out to listen to myself.  Now I am again making space to come from that place.  This makes me lighter, breathe easier and therefore do what I have to do easily and gracefully.

Some of life’s lessons are painful or fun (or anything in between).  In each of them though, there is a choice to grow or not – always that growing edge.  I’d simply allowed myself to forget that change can give us a place where all new opportunities and experience help us to learn and grow from.

Also for me to remember that “let’s do it” is more fun, and better than “do it”, as it’s energetically the collective.  When we are all “singing from the same page”, our tasks are easier as the “we” in team work is what makes the world go round.

I wonder how you’ve found stepping out and being visible again?
