HAVE YOU EVER LOST IT ?

The ‘it’ that I am talking about here is your control – your ability to be calm, assertive and in charge of yourself.   So have you??

Today, I had had enough!!!!!!

No More

No more being understanding of the stress others are under. No more of the awareness of the financial crisis the N.H.I. is dealing with. No more giving consideration to what has been happening in a large Hospital in my area. (Southend). No more of – ‘it’ll all turn out okay’. No more of – ‘there is a lesson here and this is happening for a reason’ (to be honest, this latter one is not actually used by me and, if I hear it one more time from anyone, I will certainly respond in an inappropriate way). No more of ‘It’s nobody’s fault – it is the System’.  Well who is in charge of the System.

Who is in charge of the System?

I did a blog in 2016 entitled ‘Who is in charge of your Life?’ and I want to know now – ‘Who is in charge of this Hospital System?’.

In that blog, I quoted Maya Angelou ‘You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.’    I can quite truthfully tell you that I am not in control of what is happening within the Appointments Department.  I am not in control either of the people who do not take the time to read patients’ notes and book them in for December, 2016, and on turning up find that what was being attended for could not happen.   Why?    The system was to blame as no one had read the notes!!!

Okay, bear with me if you want to!!    The advice given was that a letter would be received with another appointment after making a verbal complaint.    On phoning to chase this up, I got told that there was an 18 weeks’ waiting list as the Hospital was on the ‘black list’ (???) and we would get advised by letter as there was no point in keeping phoning.

I will give them that they kept to their word and a letter was received for an appointment today which is 19 weeks.

Surprise, Surprise

After we finally got parked and then waited for almost two hours, we were advised that this injection couldn’t happen as we had been sent to the wrong Department as someone (???) had made an error in not reading the previous information!!!

Straw that broke the camel’s back

Well that was enough.   To see someone in a lot of real pain being pushed from pillar to post and it happening again was simply too much.

I won’t go on except to say that I stood my ground and said somebody needed to take charge as enough is enough.     The appointment is made now for next week AGAIN!!!

Making an Official Complaint

I decided to write this blog to get some of my energy out and then I am writing my official complaint to the Chief Executive of the Hospital.    And yes, I know this was the place that helped to save my life in the past.    And someone needs to be in charge of what is happening as we are only one case that has been caught up in a disorganised system.

So yes, I lost it and I am totally fine with that.   I am not reduced by it as I am dealing with the circumstances to the best of my ability.

Love to hear how you ‘lose it’ xx

  • Complaining has to happen at times. It does not make us bad or being too needy. It is just that sometimes until we shout and cry noboby is really listening. Well done Irene for putting your foot down and we need to do so to get what we need !
