FRAGILE

We are fragile.  You and me.Handle With Care

Though we act strong,

our lives are

held together with thoughts of where

we might be tomorrow

and of disappointed yesterdays.

At any moment we might shatter.

We might fall to our knees

weighed down by the terror

of being so far from our own control.

Dare we look up, we’d not know

where to go or what to do.

We are fragile.  You and me.

If we were to turn to each other,

we might see the whole world

on their knees.

Hurting and seemingly alone.

But none of us are.

We are fragile together.

I find this a beautiful poem and trust you do too.  For me, it says it all about our fragility as human beings and how our vulnerability is well hidden away from prying eyes so that we can seem ‘Big and Strong’ as Adults are supposed to be!!

And yet the funny thing is that when you allow your vulnerability to be visible then others will respond.    Your vulnerability is also your strength although that is not what society says to you.

When you are able to hold both these qualities of strength and vulnerability, (the Both-And) then you will find that you are a well rounded woman and no longer have to hide yourself away.    Yeh, because life is for living!!

There are people and groups you can share your fragility in where you will find the safety, warmth and love in order for this to happen.   It will be a place of growth.

  • Lovely post and yes an inspiring poem. We do all have a vulnerable side. This is not something I see as a weakness, instead it tends to be what makes us strong. x

  • I love the sheer simplicity of the poem which for me makes it easy trading and allows to see the depth in it. Sometimes we itellectualise too much and the reader loses interest

venerability is a good thing in life, we learn more when we are unsure and then go through process, after the proces, we come to a heightened awareness. That’s the cycle of experience and understanding

  • So true Irene. Even the people who look the strongest are fragile underneath. It can just take one really bad thing to make us fall. Hopefully there are people around to help us stand tall again x

  • Thanks for your sharing of yourself AND there are those around us who can help us stand tall again. By the way, Melanie, there is a poem in there with your words!! xxx
